Our Story

Pilar of Grace Animal Rescue & Recovery was created with a heart for animals who have been overlooked, abandoned, neglected, or left behind. We saw a need in our county and surrounding communities of the Permian Basin for a rescue that not only saves animals, but also helps them recover physically and emotionally before finding them safe, loving homes.

Our Mission

Our mission is rooted in the belief that every animal deserves safety, dignity, compassion, and love. Through rescue efforts, community support, and unwavering advocacy, we work every day to turn compassion into action while building a community that refuses to look away.

    EJ Terrazas

Founder and Executive Director of Pilar of Grace Animal Rescue and Recovery, with many years of experience in animal rescue, EJ has always felt a strong calling to help animals in need. After working alongside and supporting other rescue organizations, he recognized the need for greater collaboration and resources within the community.

Through conversations with county residents, EJ also became aware of the serious issue of animal dumping in rural areas, including ranch land and oilfield sites, which further motivated him to take action.

Believing rescue is about collaboration, not competition, EJ founded Pilar of Grace to strengthen community efforts and provide second chances to animals in need.

Alongside his nonprofit work, EJ works in the oil and gas industry and is a full-time student at Texas Tech University. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
